RESILIENCE–SECURITY–COMPETITIVENESS NEXUS: CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT IN THE CONTEXT GREEN-DIGITAL TRANSITION

Keywords: resilience, security, competitiveness, green-digital transition, digital transformation, decarbonization, innovation, institutional capacity, business, adaptability, sustainable development, global uncertainty

Abstract

The article examines the interlinked dimensions of resilience, security, and competitiveness as key determinants of business development in the era of the green-digital transition. The study argues that the integration of environmentally oriented growth with digital transformation processes reshapes the foundations of economic modernization, enhancing adaptive capacity, resource efficiency, and innovation dynamics. Drawing on international analytical reports and contemporary scientific literature, the article conceptualizes resilience as a multidimensional construct that encompasses institutional flexibility, technological readiness, energy stability, and the capacity for rapid recovery in conditions of uncertainty. The analysis further highlights that security in modern economies extends beyond traditional defence considerations and incorporates economic, energy, technological, digital, and environmental components that jointly form the framework within which sustainable business models can evolve. Competitiveness is shown to be shifting from efficiency-based paradigms toward innovation-driven and socially grounded forms of stability, reflecting the structural transformations induced by climate policies and digitalisation. Special attention is given to the interpretation of the global resilience index, which demonstrates significant disparities in countries’ adaptive abilities and reveals the structural constraints that hinder or facilitate the green-digital transition. Economies with strong institutional systems, diversified structures, robust human capital and advanced digital infrastructure exhibit greater capacity to integrate green technologies, manage risks, and generate long-term competitive advantages. Overall, the findings confirm that the synergistic interaction between resilience, multidimensional security and competitiveness constitutes a strategic foundation for sustainable development, particularly for countries undergoing recovery and structural transformation.
