EFFICIENCY ANALYSIS OF ENTERPRISES IN UKRAINIAN BAKING INDUSTRY

Abstract

Purpose. To study the state and development problems of the baking industry and the efficiency of production and economic activity of baking companies in Ukraine in modern conditions. Methodology of research. The article uses scientific methods of analysis and synthesis to examine the current state and development problems of the baking industry in Ukraine, methods of statistical grouping and comparison to analyze efficiency indicators of enterprises making bread and bakery products, tabular and graphic methods to illustrate the studied problem visually. Official data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine are the information base of the study. Findings. The article investigates the activities of the baking industry in Ukraine. The study notes that the industry has a large number of enterprises of different sizes and forms of ownership competing in the regional markets. It shows dynamics of industrial production in physical and monetary units. The article analyzes the structure of personnel and labor costs, economic and financial indices and balance sheet structure of enterprises making bread, bakery products and pastry. It identifies the major causes of the low efficiency of enterprises in the baking industry that require solutions at both the enterprise and national levels. Originality. The study identifies the major problems of the baking industry development that result in the reduction of product output and decrease the efficiency of production and economic activity of domestic enterprises in modern conditions. Practical. The regulatory authorities of the baking industry in Ukraine and baking enterprises themselves can use the findings to solve the existing problems and improve efficiency.
