THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES OF DEVELOPMENT OF INNOVATIVE BUSINESS ACTIVITIES IN THE CONDITIONS OF CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Abstract
The article explores in depth the theoretical and methodological foundations for the development of innovative business activities within the circular economy, emphasizing the growing necessity for systemic transformation of traditional linear economic models. The study substantiates that increasing resource scarcity, environmental degradation, and global economic instability act as key drivers pushing businesses toward the adoption of circular principles, focusing on resource efficiency, waste minimization, and extension of product life cycles. Special attention is devoted to innovation as a critical enabler of this transition through advanced technologies, eco-design, recycling processes, and digital solutions supporting sustainable production and consumption patterns. The research is based on a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of scientific publications indexed in the Scopus database, applying network visualization techniques to identify patterns, trends, and relationships between innovation activity and the circular economy. The results reveal a significant imbalance and insufficient integration between these research domains within business, management, and accounting, highlighting fragmented scientific approaches. Through keyword clustering, the study systematizes main directions of interaction between innovation processes and circular economic models, including digital transformation, sustainable supply chain management, human capital development, and institutional support mechanisms. The findings demonstrate that innovation-driven strategies are essential for forming resilient and competitive business models operating under circular conditions. Moreover, the paper emphasizes the importance of developing a comprehensive methodological framework considering national economic specifics, particularly in the context of Ukraine’s post-war recovery and need for sustainable and innovation-oriented growth. The obtained results contribute to deeper understanding of how innovation can accelerate transition to circular business models and provide a basis for further research aimed at strengthening integration of sustainability and innovation in modern economic systemsh.
