EVOLUTION OF BUSINESS STRATEGIES OF AGRICULTURAL HOLDINGS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF CIRCULAR ECONOMY PRINCIPLES
Abstract
The article examines the evolution of business strategies of agricultural holdings under the influence of circular economy principles, which redefine the essence of corporate growth from linear expansion toward regenerative value creation. The study substantiates a theoretical and methodological framework of circular transformation that integrates systemic-evolutionary, institutional, and analytical-value approaches. Within this framework, circularity is interpreted not only as a technological innovation but as an institutional logic of re-evaluating value, where profit correlates with ecological efficiency and social resilience. The paper identifies the key transformation determinants of strategic development in agricultural holdings: energy autonomy, resource recirculation, social value formation, digital analytics, and ESG compliance as factors of long-term strategic stability. The research proposes an author’s model of business strategy evolution, which reveals a gradual transition from linear and resource-adaptive stages to circular-integrated and regenerative ones. Each stage is characterized by specific analytical markers – the configuration of capital structure, the type of innovation, and the level of stakeholder interaction – that together demonstrate the shift from extractive to restorative logic in corporate management. The study emphasizes that the implementation of circular principles requires the reconfiguration of value chains into closed material and energy loops, the creation of autonomous «circular modules» within holdings, and the adoption of sustainability indicators as instruments of strategic self-regulation. It is concluded that the circular economy forms the analytical and managerial core of a new corporate paradigm, where growth is achieved through renewal rather than consumption, and competitiveness is determined by the ability to regenerate natural, social, and intellectual capital. This regenerative approach transforms agricultural holdings into adaptive ecosystems capable of maintaining economic efficiency while ensuring ecological balance and social trust – the key foundations of sustainable corporate development.
