DIGITAL EXCHANGES AS A DRIVER OF LOGISTICS DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The article aims to justify the need to create a digital platform for freight transportation as an effective tool to address the challenges of Ukraine’s logistics market in the shared economy framework. The current state of the market was analyzed, identifying key information barriers between clients and carriers. These barriers reduce logistics efficiency and service availability, leading to increased costs and decreased competitiveness. The study highlights that introducing such a platform will integrate small and medium-sized carriers into logistics chains, enabling them to compete with larger companies. Advanced technologies such as GPS tracking, automated search systems, and big data analysis were explored as solutions to optimize freight flows, improve decision-making, and enhance service reliability. The implementation of a digital platform enhances market transparency, saves time and resources for businesses and customers, and reduces transportation costs while minimizing empty runs. This has a positive environmental impact by lowering fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, the platform ensures better coordination among logistics participants, reduces operational risks, and facilitates the adoption of sustainable business practices. Additionally, the research emphasizes the need to adapt legal frameworks to regulate digital platforms. This includes ensuring fair competition, protecting user data, and maintaining economic stability. Addressing these regulatory gaps will create a more predictable environment for both local and international stakeholders. The author’s contribution includes developing a concept for a digital platform that enables transparent interactions among market participants, builds trust in logistics processes, and supports the development of the shared economy. The proposed platform will incorporate flexible pricing mechanisms, dynamic routing, and real-time tracking to improve operational efficiency. The practical significance lies in creating conditions for efficient use of transport resources, fostering the growth of small and medium-sized businesses in transportation, and increasing the competitiveness of Ukraine's logistics market in the global economy. The findings confirm that a digital platform is a vital tool for overcoming existing barriers, encouraging innovation, and ensuring sustainable development of logistics infrastructure. These advancements position Ukraine as a regional leader in adopting innovative logistics solutions.
