INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL ORGANIZATIONS AND UKRAINE: STRATEGIC COOPERATION VECTORS
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to explore the role of international financial organizations in ensuring Ukraine’s macro-financial stability, analyze key areas of cooperation, and assess the volume of financial assistance received. The article defines the essence of international financial organizations, their classification criteria, functions, and role in the global economy. It examines the prerequisites and circumstances that necessitate Ukraine’s cooperation with these institutions and outlines the country’s membership in them. The key areas of cooperation are highlighted, including financial support, macroeconomic stabilization, structural reforms, and infrastructure development. The findings indicate that since Ukraine gained independence in 1991, its interaction with international financial organizations has been a crucial element of economic development and macroeconomic stability. Furthermore, these organizations provide significant financial assistance during wartime, help stabilize the economy, finance critical expenditures, support reforms, and attract investments. However, the study also acknowledges certain negative aspects of such cooperation, including increasing external debt, strict lending conditions, partial loss of economic sovereignty, corruption risks, and social consequences associated with reduced public spending and higher tariffs. These challenges create additional economic and social pressures, necessitating a balanced approach to the utilization of international financial assistance. The practical significance of this study lies in identifying the main areas of Ukraine’s cooperation with international financial organizations and assessing the volume of financial aid received. Additionally, the study highlights their role in sustaining the economy during crises, particularly wartime. The scientific novelty of the research is a comprehensive analysis of the role of international financial organizations in ensuring Ukraine’s macro-financial stability, considering modern challenges, including military conflicts.
