FOOD SECURITY AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE COUNTRY

Abstract

Purpose is to assess the socio-economic development of Ukraine in the context of food security, namely its goal - a long healthy life with the use of political economy approach. Methodology of research. The methodological basis of the study is the dialectical method of scientific knowledge, in this case were used general scientific and special methods, such as: abstract-logical, deductive and systematic analysis - in considering the food security of the country, statistical - in determining the relationship between public health and the dynamics of GDP country and the relationship between life expectancy (both sexes) and calorie daily diet and calorie content of food of animal origin. Findings. The analysis of modern approaches to the definition of "food security" and invited political economy approach that enhances the essence of food security by installing hierarchy of responsibility in achieving the main goal of food security - health. In the context of the paradigm of socially oriented economic development was explored the character of relationship between public health and the dynamics of GDP by using indicators such as life expectancy, the number of deaths and analyzed dependence of GDP from natural increase/decrease of the population. Based on the principles of food safety investigated the relationship between life expectancy (both sexes) and calorie daily diet and caloric food of animal origin consumed per day. Originality. Established that strengthening the nation’s health, including increased life expectancy and reduce the number of deaths is an additional factor of Ukraine’s economic weight and most energy factor for the increase in life expectancy is calorie daily diet foods of animal origin. Practical value. The obtained results of the study contribute to solving social, demographic and economic issues of food security is the foundation for further development of scientific studies on food security and food safety.
