ANALYSIS OF FACTORS AFFECTING THE EFFICIENCY OF ZHYTOMYR REGION AGRIBUSINESS ENTERPRISES

Abstract

The article is devoted to the identification and assessment of factors affecting the efficiency of agribusiness enterprises in the Zhytomyr region. Agribusiness plays an important role in the economy at both national and regional levels due to its contribution to economic development, its impact on food security, and its contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. It was determined that the activities of agribusiness enterprises are characterized by negative trends in efficiency decline, which emphasizes the relevance of studying the factors affecting enterprise performance. On the basis of the analysis of scientific research, it was determined that the factors of influence should be considered according to their origin, namely external and internal. A process-based model for analyzing the factors influencing the efficiency of agribusiness enterprise was proposed, which allowed for the formalization of the respective analytical process. Within the framework of this study, particular attention was paid to the analysis of external factors affecting the functioning of agribusiness enterprises in the Zhytomyr region. The analysis of the factors affecting the efficiency of the Zhytomyr region agribusiness enterprises was conducted using the expert survey method. The analysis involved two stages, namely the survey itself and the generalization of the results with the use of PEST analysis method. Based on a survey of representatives of agribusiness enterprises in the Zhytomyr region, it was found that the impact of external environmental factors is predominantly negative. The respondents were also asked to assess the impact of globalization consequences, as globalization is a dominant trend affecting all spheres of economic activity. The consequences of the globalization received mainly positive assessments, namely access to technologies, markets, and cooperation opportunities. A PEST analysis matrix was developed, generalizing the results of the survey as well as the results of the author’s research. The resulting PEST analysis matrix provides an informational and analytical basis for further managerial decision-making.
