ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF COST MANAGEMENT EFFICIENCY OF BAKERY ENTERPRISES UNDER ECONOMIC INSTABILITY AND MARTIAL LAW
Abstract
The article examines cost management efficiency in Ukrainian bakery enterprises (NACE 10.71) under economic instability, focusing on Kyivkhlib LLC, Concern Khlibprom PJSC, and Cherkasikhlib TD LLC during 2021–2024. It analyzes production, sales, financial results, and cost structures using relative indicators such as operating costs per UAH of revenue, material intensity, labor productivity, fixed asset turnover, and cost recovery ratio. Economic instability, price fluctuations, labor shortages, and reduced demand challenge traditional cost management, highlighting the need for adaptive strategies, integrated analysis, and flexible management approaches. The research highlights the socially significant role of the bakery industry, characterized by high material and labor intensity. Territorial factors and wartime conditions influenced production and cost structures, with partial recovery observed in 2024 after a decline in 2022. Net profit and profitability were volatile, emphasizing the need for effective cost control. The study additionally identifies potential reserves for improving efficiency, including optimization of resource use, investment in modernization, and enhancement of managerial practices. Cost analysis shows Kyivkhlib LLC maintained stable production costs but increased administrative expenses, Concern Khlibprom PJSC invested in labor and fixed assets, and Cherkasikhlib TD LLC faced rising production and operating costs due to resource and logistics challenges. Composite efficiency indicators reveal that Kyivkhlib LLC and Concern Khlibprom PJSC adapted effectively, while Cherkasikhlib TD LLC showed improvement potential. The study concludes that effective cost management under instability requires optimizing cost structures, integrating relative and absolute indicators, investing in modernization, and applying comprehensive monitoring to enhance financial resilience, competitiveness, and contribution to food security. The findings provide practical recommendations for managers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders seeking to strengthen the bakery sector under uncertain economic.
