OPERATIONALIZING ENTERPRISE RESILIENCE THROUGH THE THEORY OF CONSTRAINTS METHODOLOGY IN A BANI ENVIRONMENT

Abstract

The article examines the operationalization of enterprise resilience based on the methodology of the Theory of Constraints (TOC) under the conditions of a BANI environment characterized by brittleness, anxiety, nonlinearity, and incomprehensibility. The study proceeds from the interpretation of the enterprise as a money-generating system, while resilience is defined as the ability of a business system to maintain the stability of money generation under conditions of environmental turbulence and uncertainty. The research substantiates the need to move from a declarative understanding of resilience to its operationalization through a system of measurable indicators, management policies, and regular managerial procedures. In this context, operationalization is interpreted as the methodological process of translating the abstract concept of resilience into practical management tools and measurable economic parameters. The article proposes a throughput-oriented management model that integrates the financial triad of Throughput–Inventory–Operating Expenses, management policies and rules, regular management processes, and TOC tools into a unified management framework. Within this model, enterprise resilience is interpreted as a controllable interaction between financial metrics, decision-making algorithms, and operational management instruments aimed at maintaining the stability of throughput generation. It is demonstrated that focusing managerial attention on systemic constraints and throughput stability enables enterprises to mitigate the negative impact of environmental turbulence, increase adaptive capacity, and ensure continuity of value creation processes. Unlike traditional cost-oriented management approaches, the proposed model emphasizes the stability of financial flows and the synchronization of operational and financial decisions. The practical significance of the study lies in the formation of a methodological basis for building enterprise resilience management systems grounded in throughput-based performance indicators and constraint-focused managerial policies. The proposed approach allows resilience to be interpreted not as a descriptive characteristic of an organization but as a measurable and manageable economic process within the framework of enterprise management.
