TRANSFORMATION OF AGRO-INDUSTRIAL ENTERPRISES TO ENSURE SUPPLY CHAIN SUSTAINABILITY
Abstract
The article examines the key principles for the formation and development of sustainable supply chains of the agro-industrial complex, and also identifies approaches to the transformation of agricultural enterprises to ensure the sustainability of the supply chain. The evolution of the development of sustainable supply chains in the agricultural sector was studied. The need to transition from traditional models of sustainable supply chain management to integrated modern approaches that combine economic efficiency, environmental friendliness and social responsibility was substantiated. The key components of a sustainable supply chain include: green, which integrates environmental principles; transparent, which shows the willingness of business to disclose information about its activities to stakeholders; circular, which is built on the principles of the circular economy – recycling, repair, recovery. Each of the elements of sustainable supply chain has its own characteristics that affect the work of the entire enterprise. Given the shorter supply chain than in industry, the agro-industrial complex has high potential for an accelerated transition to sustainable models of operation. Ensuring the sustainability of supply chains requires a general transformation of enterprises at all levels. Such changes make it easier to comply with environmental standards, ensure traceability and transparency of processes, and create conditions for the reuse of resources and waste minimization. It was emphasized that the implementation of such measures contributes to the reduction of environmental risks, the minimization of losses in supply chains, and the formation of long-term competitive advantage. Based on the analysis, a structure for the transformation process of agro-industrial complex enterprises to ensure supply chain sustainability was proposed. The effectiveness of the implementation of sustainable supply chains was confirmed based on the example of a Ukrainian agro-industrial complex enterprise, which had its own characteristics and, in aggregate, allows building a single system of interaction of all components.
