ECONOMIC RESILIENCE OF AGRIBUSINESS: MANAGEMENT INSTRUMENTS IN A PERIOD OF STRUCTURAL CHANGE AND INVESTMENT INSTABIL
Abstract
Agricultural enterprises have faced sharp fluctuations in production volumes, transformations in the employment structure, declining financial results, and rising investment risks, which necessitates the development of modern resilience management tools and the justification of systematic approaches to its assessment. The purpose of the study is to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the economic resilience level of Ukraine’s agricultural sector in 2015–2024 through an analysis of the dynamics of production, financial, labor, and investment indicators and the development of an integrated model of agribusiness vulnerability and adaptability. The methodological framework is based on methods of dynamic, comparative, and structural analysis, which make it possible to identify cyclical shifts in development, critical downturn periods, and phases of recovery. The information base relies on official statistical data grouped into four key resilience components. The results of the analysis show that the agricultural sector is characterized by significant unevenness of development and high dependence on external shocks. Peak values of production, financial indicators, and investment were recorded in 2021 and 2024, while 2022 demonstrates the lowest resilience level due to the combined impact of military actions, logistical disruptions, and the loss of a significant share of the labor force. Employment dynamics indicate a structural shift toward enterprise consolidation and the increasing role of capital-intensive technologies. Investment activity in 2023–2024 shows a recovery trajectory and an intensification of modernization processes in the sector. The integrated assessment confirms that despite high sensitivity to shocks, agribusiness is capable of rapid reconsolidation provided that capital access, stable financial flows, and a renewed production base are ensured. The practical significance of the study lies in identifying the key directions for strengthening the resilience of agricultural enterprises – from production diversification and infrastructure modernization to investment in human capital and the implementation of adaptive financial regulation mechanisms. The findings may be used to improve agribusiness development strategies, shape sectoral support policies, and enhance managerial decision-making at both macro- and microeconomic levels.
