DIRECTIONS OF THE INTEGRATION OF FARMERS IN AGRICULTURAL CHAINS OF VALUE ADDED IN UKRAINE
Abstract
Purpose. The aim of the article is the systematization of scientific and methodological approaches to integration of small farms into agro-food value chains, identification of the main factors of the external and internal environment of functioning and substantiation of the principles of ensuring the sustainability and competitiveness of supply chains in modern conditions. Methodology of research. The theoretical and methodological basis of scientific research is the dialectical method of knowledge of economic phenomena, basic provisions of economic theory and fundamental works of domestic and foreign economists on the problems of formation, evaluation and management of competitiveness of agro-sphere products by quality. A set of methods is used in developing and solving the set tasks: abstract and logical (theoretical generalizations and formation of conclusions); retrospective, comparative analysis (generalization of foreign and domestic experience in forming cooperative relations); expert assessments (study of the degree of influence of factors on the development of alternative channels of firm trade). Findings. Generalizing approaches to understanding the concept of «supply chain» has allowed us to form our own vision on the features of the functioning of agro-food supply chains, which include small farms, in particular as an integral approach to the creation of consumer value based on targeted long-term partnership formation by its participants, which helps to focus on more fully meeting the needs of end consumers and the economic interests of each garlic chain. It is established that in order to increase the competitiveness of agro-food chains created by small agricultural producers, it is economically feasible to organize the processing of raw materials, as well as the formation of direct distribution channels for products that do not require processing. Originality. The feasibility of using small farms vending machines for the sale of bottling milk and the formation of direct supplies of agricultural products to catering establishments and regional supermarket chains is substantiated. It is rational to develop such forms of farm trade as: online sales; traditional offline stores; sales, both online and offline, and in the long run, it is advisable to provide production to farms at the request of consumers, namely urban population. Practical value. It is economically feasible to organize the processing of raw materials and capacities for processing and storage of harvested on a cooperative basis in order to increase the competitiveness of agro-food chains created by small farms. Achieving the minimization of marketing costs and the formation of high value-added agricultural products sold by farms is possible, provided the creation of a wholesale distribution centre on the basis of informal cooperative association of small farms.
