FUNCTIONING AND DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL ECOSYSTEMS: SUCCESS FACTORS
Abstract
Ecosystems are gradually becoming the dominant form of organization in the digital economy. They form the main trend in the development of the digital economy and its interaction with various economic entities. To compensate for the lack of production capacity, ecosystems are actively investing in the development of algorithms to analyze data on customer preferences and desires. Combined with network effects, this makes exponential growth possible, the level of which in recent years has caused serious risks to the existence of classic businesses and enterprises. The article analyzes the key factors influencing the efficiency of the process of creation, functioning and development of digital ecosystems. It is proved that the term “digital ecosystems” refers to digital tools for transformation processes, with the help of which an enterprise moves from a product-oriented model to a digitalization-oriented business model and logic. The author focuses on the emergence of the concept of "ecosystem", examples of its use in the scientific literature and existing interpretations of this term. Approaches to the definition of «ecosystems» have been generalized, two key characteristics of their formation have been allocated. The concept of business ecosystem is defined. The role of infrastructure in the formation of the ecosystem is disclosed and the form of organization of infrastructure management is proposed. The factors of emergence and development of digital ecosystems are studied, the ways of their formation are considered, and the characteristics of the difficulties of creating a digital ecosystem are provided. The article discusses the network digital interactions that give rise to a new business configuration – an ecosystem that differs from both corporate and intercompany relationships of the previous type. The types of strategies for creating digital ecosystems of companies are allocated. The advantages and limitations of the business ecosystem, as well as applicability in the context of digitalization of the economy, are analyzed.
