SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENT IN ENSURING AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIVE NATIONAL ECONOMY
Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of current aspects concerning the influence of sustainable investment on the development of international competitiveness of the national economy. It is substantiated that modern approaches and strategies of sustainable investing stimulate innovation-driven development. A theoretical interpretation of sustainable competitiveness is provided as a multidimensional concept that defines an economy’s ability to achieve stable long-term growth. Based on an analysis of the latest results of the Sustainable Competitiveness Index, it is demonstrated that countries with a high level of sustainable investment consistently occupy leading positions in global competitiveness rankings. The study emphasizes that sustainable investment is becoming a key component in the transition towards inclusive economic models that prioritize long-term resilience and resource efficiency. The paper analyzes the dynamics of sustainable investment volumes, as well as the increasing number of market participants involved in sustainable investment activities. The paper also provides a detailed characterization of the dominant trends in sustainable investment. The main trends in sustainable investment strategies are characterized, along with an analysis of their most frequent forms of implementation. The key aspects of the EU Competitiveness Compass and the European Digital Innovation Hubs network have been identified within the framework of the digital transformation process. Based on an analysis of the current state of sustainable finance in Ukraine, a set of systemic barriers and constraints has been identified that negatively influence its effective development. Among the most critical issues is the absence of a dedicated state-level institutional unit responsible for promoting sustainable foreign direct investment. The article proposes the establishment of such a structural body and outlines its core functions (image building, investment generation, investment facilitation, policy advocacy). The presence of a national strategy is discussed to a key determinant for the development of the sustainable finance market in the context of the post-war transformation of the Ukrainian economy.
