STRATEGIC PROSPECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE EXPORT POTENTIAL OF LIVESTOCK PRODUCTS: PRICE FACTOR
Abstract
The article carries out a comprehensive analysis of the price factor as a determinant of the formation of strategic prospects for the development of the export potential of Ukrainian livestock products in the European Union market. The relevance of the study is due to the need to diversify Ukrainian exports in the context of European integration processes and overcome existing price barriers to ensure the competitiveness of domestic livestock products in the highly competitive European market. The purpose of the study is to identify the factors influencing the formation of export prices and to substantiate the mechanisms for leveling their negative impact. The methodological basis of the study was based on general scientific and special methods, in particular: system-structural analysis to study the components of the price factor; comparative analysis to compare price dynamics in the markets of Ukraine and the EU; economic and statistical method to assess price trends; method of scientific abstraction and generalization to formulate conclusions. Based on the empirical data for 2023-2024, the article compares price trends for various types of livestock products, which revealed significant price differentials: the cost of cattle in the EU is 2.5-3 times higher than Ukrainian indicators, and pork and milk are more than twice as high. The study determines and systematizes the key factors of pricing: production costs, EU regulatory requirements for quality parameters of products, logistics externalities, competitiveness of the market environment, fluctuations in seasonal production, quotas under the Association Agreement, market volatility and macroeconomic indicators. The author has developed an appropriate toolkit for overcoming the negative effects of these factors, which includes technological modernization of production facilities, optimization of business processes, diversification of production and distribution channels, implementation of financial instruments for risk hedging and formation of innovative marketing strategies. It has been established that the growing demand for organic and environmentally friendly products in the EU creates prerequisites for the strategic differentiation of Ukrainian products and obtaining premium price premiums. The practical value of the study lies in the formation of a comprehensive understanding of price determinants and the development of applied tools for Ukrainian exporters of livestock products, which will allow them to optimize pricing strategies, minimize the negative impact of price fluctuations and increase the profitability of export operations in the European Union market. The proposed mechanisms can be used in the development of sectoral development strategies and government programs to support the export of livestock products.
