MANAGEMENT OF VIRTUAL TEAMS: MANAGERIAL COMPETENCIES IN THE SYSTEM OF ADAPTATION TO THE GLOBAL IT MARKET
Abstract
The article addresses the pressing issues of managing virtual teams through the application of adaptive managerial competencies. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the aspects of formation, utilization, and innovative reproduction of managers’ competencies in virtual IT teams, as well as to develop models for managing their competency potential within the system of adaptation to the global IT market. The key objectives of the study are: (1) systematization of the conceptual framework for managing virtual teams in the IT sector; (2) justification of the competencies of managers in virtual IT organizations; (3) development of methods for managing the competency potential of virtual teams in the system of adaptation to the global IT market. Methods of analysis and synthesis, and the monographic method were applied to achieve conceptual identification of virtual team management in IT organizations; induction, deduction, and generalization were used to substantiate the integration of operational (functional) and managerial competencies of leaders in virtual IT organizations; and the graphical method was employed to visualize the synergistic model of virtual team management. The article substantiates innovative aspects and systematizes the factors of conceptualization of virtual team management in the IT sphere. The competencies of managers in virtual IT organizations are identified as systemic integrators of effective coordination and flexibility under conditions of global competition, ensuring the formation of a synergistic model of virtual team management. The processes of unifying strategic and operational mechanisms for implementing IT projects under conditions of spatio-temporal fragmentation, cultural diversity, and technological interdependence are justified. Models for managing the competency potential of virtual teams in the system of adaptation to the global IT market are developed, enabling the optimization of coordination processes. Prospects for further research are proposed in terms of substantiating economic mechanisms for managing personnel interaction in multinational virtual teams and classifying the competency functions of project organization managers.
