THE ROLE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN THE MANAGEMENT OF UKRAINE'S FOREIGN TRADE: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS FOR INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
Abstract
The article examines the role of digital technologies in the management of Ukraine’s foreign trade and highlights the key challenges and prospects facing international business in this context. It is emphasized that digitalization has become one of the most important driving forces of modern international trade, transforming traditional business models and changing the way enterprises interact in the global market. The study focuses on how digitalization affects the overall efficiency of foreign trade operations, especially through the automation of customs procedures, the implementation of electronic document management systems and the development of online platforms for establishing partnerships with foreign companies. Particular attention is paid to how technologies contribute to greater transparency, reduced bureaucracy and accelerated cross-border transactions, thereby contributing to a smoother integration of Ukraine into global value chains. The article analyzes the current state of implementation of digital tools in the foreign trade sector of Ukraine and identifies several systemic barriers, such as insufficient digital literacy of market participants, underdeveloped digital infrastructure, and serious concerns about cybersecurity and data protection. It also points out the uneven distribution of digital opportunities between large enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses, which creates an additional level of challenges for inclusive economic growth, and emphasizes the opportunities that digital technologies open up for international business. These include reducing transaction costs, improving logistics coordination, better access to foreign markets, diversifying export destinations, and increasing the global competitiveness of Ukrainian enterprises. The article outlines strategic recommendations for improving state policy aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of Ukraine's foreign trade. It is proposed to create a favorable legal and institutional environment for the development of international business activities in the digital age, as well as to provide targeted state support for the implementation of innovative solutions in trade processes. It also emphasizes the need to harmonize Ukrainian legislation with international norms and standards in the areas of e-commerce, intellectual property protection, data security and cross-border digital trade. The need for modern infrastructure, professional personnel, digital literacy and cybersecurity is emphasized.
