SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP AS A DRIVER OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF TERRITORIAL COMMUNITIES
Abstract
The article explores the role of social entrepreneurship as a key instrument for ensuring the sustainable development of territorial communities in Ukraine under conditions of transformational change. It examines the strategic foundations of sustainable development, considering both international and national approaches, as well as the mechanisms for implementing this concept at the level of local self-government. Special attention is paid to the importance of sustainable development indicators, particularly “e-indexes,” in assessing the progress of digital transformation within communities. The research highlights how entrepreneurial initiatives can be transformed into tangible social and environmental benefits for local populations. The significance of entrepreneurial activity in ensuring the economic resilience, social stability, and adaptive capacity of regions is substantiated. Furthermore, the article analyzes the interplay between community-driven innovation, resource efficiency, and inclusive economic growth, emphasizing the potential of social entrepreneurship to foster long-term self-sufficiency. A comprehensive monitoring framework is proposed for systematically tracking and evaluating the impact of social entrepreneurship on achieving sustainable development goals, both at the level of individual territorial communities and across the country as a whole. The findings can serve as a basis for designing policy instruments and targeted support programs aimed at strengthening community capacity, enhancing social cohesion, and accelerating the transition to a sustainable, innovation-driven economy.The study highlights pathways through which entrepreneurial initiatives generate social and environmental benefits by converting local assets into inclusive services, green value chains, and community-based infrastructure. It argues that social enterprises diversify local economies, create income opportunities for vulnerable groups, strengthen social cohesion, and enhance community resilience. Social entrepreneurship is presented as a multifunctional instrument capable of accelerating the transition to socially inclusive, economically viable, and ecologically sustainable local development.
